The new section of video games in the Shepherd Bookstore recently updated its stock, bringing in new games for the Xbox 360, Wii and Playstation 3 consoles.

The Shepherd University Bookstore has started selling new video games on its shelves. The video game section, which is located in the center of the bookstore, sells video games at competitive prices compared to stores like Gamestop, FYE, Toys R Us, and Best Buy, as well as Internet websites like Amazon.com and GameFly.com. The bookstore has since increased its merchandise to compete with the ever growing market of video game sales with other retailers around our area.

Shera Logue, Shepherd Bookstore Assistant, said that the Shepherd University Bookstore started selling video games about three weeks ago. "It was an idea I had over the summertime," she said. "There is no place for students to buy video games, so I thought we would sell them here to make it easier on them."

Until recently there was criticism from students that video game merchandise in the Shepherd Bookstore was considered limited at best. According to Student Development graduate, Michael Fox, argues, "The video game section is fairly priced, but it needs computer games as well as console games for their section."

Tyrone Ferguson, a Computer Information Sciences major, agreed with Fox's assessment of the video game selection in the bookstore by saying, "It is pretty weak because of its limited selection." Ferguson went on to say that if the bookstore increased their video game choices or the types of video games they sold, then he would buy video games from the bookstore.

It was later confirmed by Shera Logue that the new video game section will be receiving more brand new video game releases for the Xbox 360, Wii and Playstation 3 consoles in the near future, thanks to a sudden increase in video game merchandising. The bookstore plans to sell over 900 video game titles including Halo Reach for Xbox 360, Madden 11 for both the Playstation 3 and the Wii consoles, Crackdown 2 for Xbox 360, as well as Medal of Honor for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles. Prices for these video games range from the retail price of $59.99 for most of the video games with the exception of the Wii video games, which currently sell at $49.99. The bookstore also sells point cards for the Xbox 360 and Will video game consoles.

Although the bookstore does not currently sell used video games, students can special order specific video games by title if they choose to.  There is no specified time limit in which the bookstore plans to sell these new video games, which means that students can purchase them from the bookstore whenever it is open for business.
