Though the Shepherd women's basketball team has encountered its first losing streak of the year, losing back to back games, they still have their eyes set on a WVIAC championship.
"We're going to have to fix things quickly or we have a long month or two ahead of us," coach Melanie Ford said.
With losses to both Fairmont State and the University of Charleston, the Rams are looking to end their current losing streak, and get back into the form that their record at 5-1 during the winter break, 10-6 on the season.
The loss to the University of Charleston was a closely contested game that went down to the last minute, but in Fairmont State game, the Rams never held the lead.
Ford has felt her team hasn't been handling the last few games as they should be, she feels that the players have learned lessons from the last few games.
"You have to know when to start becoming aggressive and not wait until the last few minutes to realize that we're only down eight points. I think some of our girls tonight realized that too late," Ford said.
Shepherd will face off against two of the conferences toughest teams in the next three games, traveling to Charleston to play the Golden Eagles, then West Virginia State, before coming home on February 2 to play West Liberty.
Though there is no reason for the Rams to panic, they certainly want to end their current losing streak sooner than later.
